Inter Club Galas
Nottingham Portland belongs to the J.C. Dobb, Spring Competition
and Notts & District Leagues, competing approximately 15 times per
year. One or two invitation or friendly galas are also held in the
summer.
Mini Galas
Each year, the club holds 3 or 4 mini galas which are designed to
recognise improvement in swimmer performances in a Gala environment.
Swimmers of similar ability are grouped together in races. However
awards are based upon
improvement in times across all four main strokes, from one Mini
Gala to the next, rather than on places achieved in individual races.
Mini galas give valuable experience for younger swimmers and are
important in preparation for inter club galas.
Nottingham Portland Annual Club Gala
The Club's Annual Gala is normally held in October. This event is
for all swimmers in the club and is held at Nottingham University
Sports Centre.
