NEWS

Children 8 and Under.

Recently, the club has noticed that young children (aged 8 years and younger) are being left unattended by a parent/carer during training sessions. This places the coaches and other club officials in a difficult position and has potential insurance and legal consequences for the club. It is therefore important that at least one parent/carer of children aged 8 or under remain on poolside during training sessions. (The seated area is fine).

Fire Safety.

Can all parents please ask their children to give their names to the person taking money as they arrive at training, before they go and get changed, even if their parents are following on a few minutes behind with their session fee. It is very important that we know who is on poolside in case of fire or some other emergency. If no-one has arrived to take the money, please don’t get changed until a club official is present and has taken names.

Victoria Leisure Centre.

For those not aware, this session on a Tuesday night, now starts at the earlier time of 7.30pm and finishes at 8.30pm. Remember Tuesday’s offers a fantastic opportunity for the under 12’s to practice their turns which will help improve competition performances.

Club Championships.

A reminder that the Portland Club Championships are taking place on the 20th and 21st October at the University Pool. The majority of events take place on the Saturday with just the 100m and 200m events taking place on the Sunday. Cost is £1.25 per event. Forms are available to register NOW at every swimming session. So come on and give it a go. See if you can break a club record or achieve a personal best. Names should be registered in advance please, so that the swimming order can be worked out beforehand to enable the usual smooth running of things on the night.
There will be a raffle on the night to help to raise essential funds for the club. Prize donations needed please! If you have anything suitable please drop it in at any training session.
